Mood Disorders CARE Clinic
Clinical Assessments & Research in Edinburgh
Patient & Public Involvement
As part of the national Mental Health Mission, we are committed to making sure the CARE clinic meets the needs of the people who use it by listening to and learning from those with lived experience.
We have a PPIE Group in Edinburgh which reflects a wide, diverse range of perspectives. We are looking to grow the group and invite individuals who:
-
Are local to Edinburgh or the surrounding area, and
-
Have lived experience of, or care for someone with, difficult-to-treat depression or bipolar disorder.
The group meet quarterly to discuss aspects of the Clinic, such as our website, participant-facing documents, and how the CARE clinic is run.
We also welcome people who might prefer a less formal role where you can simply share your thoughts on participant-facing documents by email. Every voice matters and there are many ways to get involved.
You will be paid in line with the UK Standards for Public Involvement in Research. This includes your time in meetings, any preparation for them, and any input you give by email. Each meeting will last around 2 hours, and we will let you know in advance how much preparation time is expected and how much you will be paid for your contribution. Meetings can be held in person or online, depending on what works best for the group.
We would be delighted if you could join us and help shape the CARE clinic into something that truly works for the people it serves and we look forward to hearing from you.
